KUALA LUMPUR- Mohd Yusof Bin Ismail, more widely known as Yusof Gajah, an experienced painter who had won awards for children book illustrations advises serious artists to visit galleries, get involved with communities, travel, get grants, and do charity work with their skills.
"Be yourself, don't lose sight of our goals, learn from both your successes and mistakes." he said.
The prize-giving ceremony of National Student Art Competition 2014 was held at the auditorium of National Art Gallery on 3rd Oct 2014.
Taylorian Grace Loh Ee Ling from the School of Communication managed to obtain consolation prize worth RM500 in the photography section, which had 197 entries.
"It was a candid shot, taken in my hometown, Ipoh, outside of the 'Burbs and Giggles' cafe in June," she said.
Loh said that she'd been working on a travel log on rediscovering her hometown when she took the photo.
She planned to buy her parents a dinner and save the rest of the prize money.
The theme of this year's competition was Journey to Fulfill My Promise.
This is the second National Student Art Competition hosted by Vision Petron to encourage Malaysian students to be leaders of the new generation of artists and photographers.
